The Band
The band, Onerepublic, was formed in 1996 by Ryan Tedder and Zach Filkins, in Colorado Springs, Colorado in the United States after they befriended each other in their senior year at high school. The band members are currently Ryan Tedder, Zach Filkins, Drew Brown, Eddie Fisher and Brent Kutzle. The past band members are Jerrod Bettis and Tim Myers. They achieved success on MySpace. They were found in 2003 and then signed to Sony BMG Music Entertainment. In 2007, they released their debut album which was entitled Dreaming Out Loud. Their single 'Apologize' was remixed by Timbaland, becoming a success nationwide and internationally.
They say that their music has been inspired by The Beatles and U2, and they have had heavy influences on it. However, they do not want to see Coldplay as an influence as they say that they 'come from a much wider hip-hop and urban background' and that they are 'not trying to be a British band'. They have also been known, on tour, to do covers of other artists popular songs such as 'Millenium' by Robbie Williams, 'Seven Nation Army' by The White Stripes, 'Rolling in the Deep' by Adele and 'Silent Night' by Joseph Mohr. They performed 'Silent Night' in front of the 44th American President Barack Obama and his family in 2011, in Washington D.C.
The band's name was changed from Republic, to Onerepublic, as the record label thought that controversy may occur from the name, especially with other bands, most likely because of democratic and republican political parties in America that the name could represent that could offend other bands.
Their album, Native, is the band's biggest release in recent years. The album reached 36 on the US Billboard Hot 100. The single 'Counting Stars' on the album, reached within the top 5 in Germany, Ireland, Austria, Australia, Luxembourg and New Zealand.
The album containing 'All Fall Down', entitled Dreaming Out Loud. It was released in 2007.
