Storyboard

At the start, I want it to open with a close-up of the actor playing the guitar, with the close-up of the strings as they are being played. I want this because the opening of the song opens with that instrument. Like the picture below this, I could either show the close-up of the strings at the front of the guitar, or I could show it on an angle.

I want to then show the actor/artist in a mid-shot, showing both the instrument and him. During this shot, depending on the duration of the shot before, or if decide to swap some shots around, the artist may be singing along with the words. I shall shoot both versions of this shot, with singing and without, to see what I prefer and what goes well. I know that the cuts have to be quick for a music video and the other shots I have done a storyboard for may be shuffled around at the introduction or may be repeated within the actual music video.

At this point, the lyrics should be in line with the line 'step out the door and it feels like rain'. I want to show the artist in my outdoor location, walking, perhaps looking up at the sky. That may be too literal with the lyrics, but I am going to try both versions.
At the lyric 'That's the sound, that's the sound' I could have it cut back to the performance and show the artist/actor's foot tapping to the lyric. That may be too literal but I quite like the idea and I think it would be good to carry it out.

I plan to have quite a few shots of the actor during the 'performance' part of the music. This could be part of the chorus. I must also take into account that my stop-motion must also fit within the music video. With this shot I want to face the artist, either with him singing along or not, as I can do both shots, but in this shot he must be playing the guitar. In this shot, I want him to look at the camera.

This shot could either show him on the floor, singing, the camera in a high angle shot. Or it could be him standing, the camera in a mid-shot. He could raise his arms during the shot. But, because of the slow, sad style of the song, he may have to move slower.
This part can be where my stop motion can go, as the next few shots fit with it.

In this shot, he is leaning against the guitar, in a slumped position. In the picture I have put an arrow to show that he could lean his head against it whilst he sings along. In the picture, I have done this as either part of the performance, with the lights, but it could also be part of the outdoor parts. This shot can either be a mid-shot or I could then go to a close-up.

In this shot, the artist is moving away/walking away from a vine-like plant. I have put a pencil in the picture, and that could represent the lost communication with his partner as you use a pencil to write and to form words. But, I think that idea does not fit as nicely as my other idea. Like with my stop-motion storyboard, I could have the paper heart placed on the floor, perhaps torn in two to represent the artist's broken heart at the end of the relationship. The vine-like plant can link the stop-motion with the video and it can also, perhaps link to life and energy that the artist used to feel and by walking away, he is abandoning that. This shot can be a mid-shot. But, I think that perhaps a close-up on the plant and the torn paper heart could finish the video nicely.
